About Coach Hamric

My Background

Chris “Mooch” Hamric brings 6 years of coaching experience including the last 3 seasons as the Head Coach of the Bloomington Blades High School team in Southern Indiana. He started his coaching career working with the youth goaltenders in the program before becoming the goalie coach of the High School team. He spent one year in that role before being named the Head Coach of the program. In his 3 seasons as Head Coach, he worked with the youth coaches to build a development pathway focusing on character and culture as well as skill, built a culture of leadership among his players, and focused on a competitive, character driven environment that saw results on the ice. The team saw its two best finishes in program history in 2020 and 2021, Mooch’s first two years as Head Coach, including a State Final loss to Culver Military Academy in 2021. He now works with the Tri-State Spartans 15u AAA team as an Assistant Coach and with the goaltenders in the entire Spartans program.

Coach Hamric has recently founded GFH hockey to continue his work with individual players outside of his work with teams. GFH was founded with the mindset to build a stronger hockey development community, and challenge youth players to be more competent and confident in themselves and their skills, both on and off the ice.

GFH was named as a way for Coach Hamric to practice what he preaches and to push himself to hold fast to his morals and be the best that he can be. Coach Hamric strives to keep his priorities humble, by making God first in his life, never being too busy for time with Family, and then giving his all to his third love, Hockey. GFH reminds Coach Hamric that God, Family, and Hockey are his passions, in that order.

Coach Hamric believes in an athlete-first environment that focuses on developing the player both on and off the ice. He believes his role is to create this environment where all players love the consistent, daily work of development and feel safe to push themselves and those around them, including the coaches, to be better both on and off the ice.

Outside of hockey, Mooch enjoys spending time with his fiancee, Mary, and their two dogs, Cooper and Puck. He loves their family time together, whether it is taking the dogs for a drive, building a fire in the backyard, or sitting on the couch watching Ted Lasso.
